1933年東京に生まれる。明治大学大学院修士課程（史学科考古学専攻）卒業後、研究者兼主婦として家庭を守りながら、地域の教育や文化にも尽力し、田無市文化財保護審議会委員などとして社会的にも精力的に活動してきた。
そのかたわら世界からもORIGAMIとして注目されてきた日本の伝統的な折り紙芸術にも関心を持ち、とくに深みある幾何学的な美しさが評価される「花紋折り」に関しては、その創始者・内山道郎氏から直伝された美の神髄を後世に伝えるだけでなく、伝統に独自の応用技術を加え、瑞々しい新たな折り紙芸術を生み出した。膨大な作品とともに「花紋折り」の独自な世界を伝える後継者の出現を願っている。
Brief Biography : Chieko Nakazawa
Author, Master of Kamon-ori (Flower-Crest Folding)
Born in Tokyo in 1933. After graduating from the Master’s Program at Meiji University (specializing in Archaeology, Department of History), she balanced her career as a researcher with her family life. She also dedicated herself to local education and culture, serving actively in various social roles, including as a committee member for the Tanashi City Cultural Properties Protection Council.
Parallel to her academic and social work, she developed a keen interest in traditional Japanese origami art, which has gained worldwide recognition as “ORIGAMI.” She was particularly drawn to Kamon-ori (Flower-Crest Folding), an art form highly praised for its profound geometric beauty. She was a direct pupil of its founder, Uchiyama Michiro.
Beyond passing on the essence of beauty directly inherited from its founder, she developed her own unique application techniques, adding them to the tradition to create a fresh, new origami art. With her extensive collection of works, she hopes for the emergence of successors who will carry forward the unique world of Kamon-ori.
